The People
Guitar
Chai is the melodic heartbeat of Mataora. His guitar work weaves between classical fingerpicking, folk strumming, and jazz-inflected improvisation — never predictable, always human. Born with an ear for space as much as sound, Chai treats silence as an instrument in its own right. His compositions unfold slowly, like sunlight through water, rewarding those who settle in and truly listen.
Based between Zurich and Tel Aviv, Chai has performed across Europe and the Middle East, bringing a multicultural musical vocabulary that defies easy categorisation. He studied classical guitar before his path led him toward live improvisation and the emotional depths of ambient performance.
Handpan
Haim discovered the handpan relatively late in his musical journey — and promptly devoted himself to it entirely. The instrument, forged from steel and shaped into a celestial drum, produces harmonics that seem to exist between notes. In Haim's hands, it becomes a meditation bell, a storm, a breath — sometimes all within a single phrase.
Originally trained as a percussionist, Haim brings rhythmic intelligence to the handpan that most players don't. He doesn't just play notes — he conducts atmospheres. His technique blends traditional handpan technique with freely invented patterns that lock into Chai's guitar in a way that feels ancient and utterly new.
Their Philosophy
"We don't perform at an audience. We invite them into a space where the music already lives."
